I had an amazing stay at the Atauro Dive Resort! The atmosphere is super relaxed and welcoming. The staff is very friendly and keeps everything in excellent condition! The room, toilet and showers are top!The food is very good and varies every day (not only rice:) ).Well maintained equipment in all sizes is available and of course the diving is excellent! No big animals like sharks or rays on the reefs, but soo many different fish species, Murray eels, slugs, corals…wow!!!I did my open water here and will do the advanced as well, because the instructions are well trained and the learning atmosphere is very comfortable.I’d definitely recommend staying here!

A wonderful place to stay and/or dive!We did both and cannot recommend it highly enough. The resort is managed by the lovely Caroline and Paul who are also the senior dive masters. The huts are comfortable and the owners have done a great job positioning these so it feels like there is lots of space. They are basic island huts – do not expect aircon or hot water (no where on the island has these). You will get woken early by the resident rooster. This is part of the charm and it means you get to see an amazing sunrise whilst having a swim in the amazing clear and calm sea right on your door stepThe food was amazing! Again, it’s a remote island so it’s basic, but the flavour was amazing! Kudos to the kitchen staff. We did 3 dives and were a bit nervous to start as it had been a long time – but Paul was great. It’s a super professional outfit – but also very relaxed which is niceWill be back for sure

We stayed two nights at Atauro Dive Resort and would definitely stay again. Staff were all so welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were kept up really well and the rooms were comfortable. The new managers Caroline and Paul, provide a really supportive atmosphere for staff and guests alike. We did a refresher and discover dive after we left the accommodation and it was lovely to be able to come back. The resort is small, with a lovely garden and chickens roaming around, so makes for a more cosy atmosphere. The food is delicious and there was always a good selection of dishes. We never went hungry. The home made ice cream was definitely a nice touch.Watching sunrise from the beach in front of our bungalow was a definite bonus!

We’ve dived with ADR on two separate holidays and really enjoyed our experiences with them. The dive centre is very laid back and has a nice vibe. Staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating. The dive guides make sure you have a good diving experience and point out lots of interesting marine life. Only a couple of small suggestions for improvement: have more options for morning tea (fruit etc) and bring hot water for those who don’t drink standard coffee and tea.

Absolutely wonderful dive resort, I really can’t recommend it enough. All the staff are amazing, shout out to Saffy and wonderful dive instructor Didi! Food is great and varied and you should definitely try the homemade ice cream too. Rooms are basic but everything works and they are cleaned daily. Toilets and facilities also all very clean. Would definitely return. Make sure you pay close attention to the ferry/flight times and give yourself enough time in advance for transfers.

Dive in the Planet's Most Biodiverse Reef

Located at the centre of the Coral Triangle, Atauro Island offers a spot for incredible diving. From dramatic drop-offs and gentle slopes to pinnacles, Atauro Island provides diverse topography for every diver.

The reefs are covered with healthy coral gardens, a stunning variety of fish species, and a combination of both small critters and the chance for big encounters. It is also located on a major highway for migrating whales.

The reef on Atauro Island is known as the most bio-diverse reef in the world! Great visibility all year round, even during the rainy season.

Whale Watching & Snorkeling Tours
(October - November)

Every year between October and November, hundreds of Blue Whales, Sperm Whales, and other cetaceans migrate along the north coast of Timor-Leste. Encounters are regular during this season, and swimming/snorkeling with them is an unforgettable experience.

We organize daily trips to swim with the whales. The rest of the year, encounters with Pilot Whales, Melon-Headed Whales, and various dolphins are also possible.
